Following the successful launch of our Kari safari chair, we’ve remained true to the original design while introducing the new Karimo black series. This collection features chair frames crafted from smoked black ash wood, complemented by the matte black leather upholstery. The tactile nature of the clear wood grain adds a compelling sense of tension to the product.

The frame of Karimo leather armchair is meticulously crafted from American ash wood, undergoing a meticulous finishing process. This challenging method involves sanding and metal wool polishing, followed by an initial coating of rosewood-red oil-based finish, culminating in a final layer of oil-based polyurethane black. The result is a stunning matte black appearance that highlights the wood’s natural grain.

Karimo lounge chair is a modern contemporary minimalist style seating product that meets the requirements of any environment.  Inspired of the original Kinuta project N-LC02 armchair by Norm Architects 2020, made in Japan by the master furniture maker Karimoku Case Study. The Kinuta Collection has its native setting in two of the 36 Kinuta Terrace apartments located in the Kinuta ward of the Setagaya district in Tokyo. Kinuta Terrace was originally built in 1991 with an integrated courtyard, giving residents the advantages of a single-family home.

In the two years since the Kinuta chair was launched, we have been researching and developing our own Kari safari chair and Karimo smoked ash wood armchair to pay tribute to the world-renowned design. The minimalist style of the one-piece upholstery, free hanging seat structure combined with the sculptural selected American FAS grade ash wood.

Specification and Material: 

• TIMBER- the wood base is crafted of beautiful American FAS grade Ash, smoked ash wood, grain matte black;
• LEATHERETTE: one-piece microfiber leather in Matte Black color- the microfiber leather is the abbreviation of microfiber PU (polyurethane) synthetic (faux) leather. Microfiber leather fabric is one type of synthetic leather, this material is microfiber non-woven fabric coating with a layer of high performance PU (polyurethane) resins. Microfiber leather is high-class synthetic leather which perfectly replicates features of real leather such as the hand feeling, breathability and moisture absorption etc. The performance of microfiber including chemical and abrasion resistance, anti-crease, aging resistance etc. are better than genuine leather. Because the real leather is animal skin, so it has a strange smell. If the formaldehyde and heavy metals exceed the standards in the production process, usually the real leather would has a pungent odour. However, the microfiber is anti-odour. Based on the quality distribution on natural hide, the amount of usable leather is about 60 to 80% only. However, the microfiber is not limited by this, it is produced in roll form, also the quality of microfiber is very stable.
